WHAT WE MOST LIVE FOR

copyright @ 2008 by Cookala

Another Sunday has come
and one hears a long, collective
sigh amongst the drones
of the working world. Keyboards
are clickless, monitors are black; no alarms
shatter the peaceful slumber of the masses.
No need to rise at an unGodly hour
to don stiff corporate suits and put on
even stiffer corporate faces
then have a go around with traffic;
no need to dread what the day may bring
from back stabbing co-workers
and persnickity bosses;
no need to do little more than
roll over for another hour
before rising to of a day of leisure;
a cup of joe savored while reading
the newspaper, maybe a walk in the park,
but mostly a day spent cradled in the arms
of all that is held dear and good.
